About
The “Freedom for Beer” movement was created by the Florida Brewers Guild and in association with the Craft Brewers of Florida Political Committee.
Our goal is raise awareness and facilitate changes to Florida’s antiquated post-prohibition laws and advance the growth of the craft beer industry. These areas include, but are not limited, to the freedom for self-distribution, updates to the franchise law, and common-sense reforms to brand registration and licensing fees.
We are actively lobbying the Florida legislature and working directly with industry partners to identify common ground and rational changes to advance Florida’s craft beer industry.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Florida Brewers Guild is to educate the public about the brewing industry in Florida; promote networking and educational opportunities between brewers, consumers, suppliers, and government regulatory agencies; and continually promote free market access of the Florida brewing industry to the public.

The Early Days
Founded nearly two decades ago, by Tampa brewers, the Florida Brewers Guild was built on the ideas of uniting Florida’s craft beer industry for advocacy, reform, and the sharing of best practices in an effort to elevate brewing across the state.
Past Successes
Since 1996, the FBG has been on the front lines championing craft beer issues including:
• Legalizing tasting rooms
• Changing the restrictive bottle law
• Legalizing the 64 oz Growler
• Updating the licensing statutes and requirements for craft beer manufacturers.
• Increasing industry standards to allow for greater market access.
• Stopping legislative initiatives that would harm the craft beer industry.
• Supporting the growth of craft beer in Florida.
The Florida Brewers Guild continues to advocate for beneficial public policy that fosters innovation and creativity. We will help bolster the efforts of pro-craft brewery legislators who are unafraid to stand up for the free market. We will create an environment to encourage an open dialogue between brewers, industry partners, and craft beer enthusiasts to further the success of Florida’s craft beer industry.
